My apologies but this topic keeps popping up and yes, I've already looked at oil burner threads until my eyes are glazing over. :beat: Yes, the 2012 still burns oil, no the 2012's don't burn oil, no one seems to have a definitive answer on this subject. Surely a company the size of Honda can sort this out and put it to rest after what.....five years?
Does your '12/'13 burn excessive oil? Please do not talk about pre-2012 units as I know they've had problems, I am looking at a left over, new 2012 unit at my local dealer but just can't seem to pull the trigger as this oil burning crap keeps resurfacing.
There were about 20 riders behind me at that stop sign laughing their asses off. I jumped off the bike and laid down when I saw one of the riders was going to take a low angle tight shot of my bike
Nice bike Bevo but that mudflap on the back has got to go, I ordered a fender eliminator kit for mine after having the bike maybe 48 hours, scheduled to arrive on Friday and going on Saturday morning. Rear footpegs have to go also but I do like that rear seat cover...
But of corse!!
You can see the oil on all the bolt but if you notice it isn't on the highest one only on the lowers. I figure it's coming from the top one(where I first saw the leak). Also it just got wiped down a day ago so it's not quite so obvious.

I see....I think its pretty much the same, its always leaking in the same general area. mine is sipping from those 2 lower bolts, closest to oil pressure sensor switch.
There are two options, incandescent lamps or LEDs for an additional $23. I decided this time to go with the incandescent as I have used LEDs on my other bikes and the flash rate is now really high on both the front and rear turn signals, something to do with a change in resistance from the LEDs. It's not a problem, just annoying and can be fixed with a special resistor but I wanted to keep it simple this time and retain the stock flash rate.
I have suspect because of PAIR block off mod. 4kmiles. I think its started when i did the mod. Anybody can confirm? Anybody with completely standard blade have similar problems?. Nyte? The King of Everything OEM?

Bevo will soon become part of honda's history. A man that gave up absolutely everything so he could be riding all the time. The only moment were he momentarily gives up his dream is when he fuels up (rumors say he is working on a method so he can refuel while he rides, rumors have not explained how he has time to think of all these since he is always riding...)
Hey, has any one checked the speedometer accuracy on their '12 against GPS? The reason I ask is this thing seems to be pulling like a freight train but my speed through the same sections is reading a lot lower than my other bikes, even my ZX-6R is showing higher speed indicated. I think all of them read maybe 10% too high while the '12 is reading right on? Cycle World did a recent test on the 2014 SP and it was spot on at 30 mph and 60 mph, are the '12s the same?
I'm approaching 200 miles on my '12 now and it's starting to loosen up, man what a nice ride! 3rd gear power wheelies are just a twist of the wrist away with that strong midrange, brakes are excellent and turn in is responsive, quick and stable. Ergos are nice and the suspension is plush, I haven't touched it. Like they say, this is probably the most well balanced Superbike ever. This might be the ultimate road bike.
My '11 ZX-10r was slammed from the factory, needs the 6mm shim under the rear shock upper mount and then it rails. Some guys are using the 8mm but I think it's a little too aggresive for street riding.
Lots of these guys on this forum! Just ignore the trolls! They have no real life so the mess with people on the internet only cause if they said the shit the do online they'd end up having to get air lifted to the nearest hospital to have they're face put back together!
My buddy rides a Harley. He swore that if I ever rode one I would get one. He would bug me all the time to try his. "oh they're so comfy", and "the torque is unreal".
Finally one day I said sure, let's swap bikes. He takes off on mine, my wife follows on her z1000, and I pull in behind. Accidently hit the rev limiter right off the bat. I kinda felt bad, but oh well. Anyways the bike didn't feel heavy, but man it would not handle right. It felt like the whole thing was suspended by rubber bands that could break at any moment. Remember the plastic horses you could ride that were suspended by springs in the four corners. Anyways we catch up to a slow truck, both he and my wife zip around it no prob. I stayed back because I wasn't sure if the straightaway was long enough. So I took this chance to try out the "amazing torque". I wasn't really impressed. Dad's valkarie had torque.
The seat was comfortable. The shoulder height handlebars, and pegs set like birth giving stirrups were not.
Anyways I found my buddy and wife down the road waiting for me. I said a few nice things and was glad to be back on my cbr.
That is the greatest myth ever perpetrated on man kind and also the greatest marketing scheme ever concocted. I have to hand it to Willie G., when he bought the company back from AMF, he realized he could never compete with the Japanese, Italians or even the Brits on equal terms so he built this myth, this legend around Harley. They are antiquated, ill handling, underpowered, road kill IMHO. I finally rode one, a 2010 Fatboy after falling for the hype, what a sad joke that this is the best our nation can do. I couldn't wait to get off that thing and get my bike back. Harley ownership is like this giant Ponzi scheme, once you've been suckered in by the hype and
bought that junk, you have to convince yourself and everyone else how great it is or the whole house of cards collapses and your bike is worthless.
Yes, I think the only issues with the '12 show up under hard track use, high revs and not anything like the original '08 and '09 models. I just bought one, so fingers crossed but so far really liking this machine.
I'll say it again I own a Harley and love it for what is. There is nothing wrong with riding and enjoying one. Who cares what other riders do when they pass you lol. I ride both brands for what they offer. Yes Harley's don't have the newest tec but neither does the cbr(rider aids). Riding a Harley or Indian or a comp brand is like driving an old muscle car, there is a since of American history that one can feel and become part of when riding.

Thank you, Bevo and I can't thank you guys enough for the support! We will have plenty for all you guys and will also have brisket/pulled pork sandwiches.
