Hi, I am planning on a new 2014 1000rr. I see where they made changes to the 2014 (non SP). at least that's what the Honda website states. Can anyone tell me how you like your 14 compared to recent previous years. also I see a windshield change. is there really more protection? lastly, how is the NON Sp stacking up performance wise with the zx10r and gsxr1000?? and can you do a bazzaz z bomb?
Thanks
As far as difference. Not to much of a difference. They did very minor things to improve the bike. But If you can find a 12 or 13 for cheaper, then I would buy those. But if your heart is set on the new color ways then get one while they last.
And yes to can do the zbomb. Best is to buy the fuel module as well.

well its been a few years since i had my last cbr. Was thinking of getting back into the sport. i sold my 12 zx14r green since it was little heavy in the turns compared to the 1000's although fast on the straights.
since then my nephew bought a new zx14r and my son has a 13 zx10r we like to stretch them out when we get a chance from first gear roll out as you can see in my older post. anyway that's where I am just unsure which bike to pick and don't want to be last lol.
You won't be last in the turns on any of the newer Fireblades.
But don't expect it to keep up with a ZX-14R in the straights.
It will keep up with the ZX-10R though.
A quickshifter helps. Get a Blade, do the basic mods, add a quickshifter, and you will not be left behind.
i was reading a article about shifting seams not very smooth on the 2014 is this correct? i was speaking on the straights. honda usually has smooth shifting cbr's
I have the Pearl flaked white '14.....The new 14's are great. Nothing to worry about.. There is not much difference between the SP and the standard model except color, suspension, it comes with stickier tires, and has (Select) hand picked internals for weight balancing. Oh, and it has Brembo calipers on the front brakes.
Both are great bikes. I would have gotten an SP model if they had a different color option for it.
