I recently flushed my coolant on my 2005 Repsol Model. I filled the radiator with Honda 50/50 coolant as well as my coolant reservoir (to the upper level). I was told that this process would only take about 3.15 liters of coolant. However I still have about 1/4 of the 3rd bottle of coolant and the cooling system is full. Any insight as to why this is? Maybe I didnt drain everything completely out?
you might not have drained it all or there are some air pockets still in the system...run your bike with the radiator cap off for a few minutes after the thermostat starts to open - about 85 celcius and if there is still air trapped in the block u should see it bubble out. if u don't see air bubbling out at any stage it wasn't drained fully.
You can't completely drain all the coolant out, ever. unless you crack the engine open. like he said. be sure to rev the engine in neutral and tap the coolant hoses to get any air bubbles out, put the cap on while the engine is still running, after the fans go on. check the coolant level in the res, after the engine cooled off.

Some old coolant is still trapped in the system. That's why when I replace mine I check the coolant capacity in the service manual and then fill it with 100% coolant of 1/2 of that total amount. After that I top off the rest with distilled water. When it all mixes together I have a 50-50 concentrate. I follow this same procedure with my cars, too.
