??? HOW COLD IS TO COLD TO RIDE ???

Well it’s on the way to being that time of year again. Cold weather is coming if we like it or not.

The coldest I have ridden in was 26 degree’s and it just was not fun. I was tense the whole time because I was so cold. And the Cold Asphalt is so Sketchy. Sometimes feels like I'm on ice.

If it’s below about 40 I just don’t ride.

But, I have friends who have actually ONLY had a bike for transportation. And they rode to work when it was snowing out. Somehow didn't bust their A$$.

So what's your take? What's too cold to ride? Or What conditions cause you to just not go out?

I have gone when it was 35 degrees, sunny but no snow on the gorund what so ever. I dont even know how you could ride in the snow with sport bike tyres.

Below 50 is not worth it to me. I probably would if I had some winter gear, but my hands start to go numb after that point.

I personally don't mind extreme cold as far as my body is concerned. However, the tires never reach operating temps when it gets close to freezing and I'm extremely careful, especially when cornering, because it feels like I'm riding on a sheet of ice. Not fun.

Years ago I rode for about 1/2 hour when the actual temp was 7*F BELOW zero as a challenge between my next door neighbor and myself. He rode, too. Nowadays my lower limit would be about 40*F, as far as motorcycle riding goes. I'll still ride down to about 15 degrees on my bicycle.

below 50 I wear heated gear... toasty warm.

below freezing I try to avoid riding unless I need to go to work or go out. I dont do fun rides when there is potential for ice.

I don't ride when it's below 30, that's if I happen to have a car.
it does not snow in San Antonio so I love it as I ride everyday.
What's worst of riding in the cold was my fingurs they actually hurt in a very cold weather as if a giant door slammed on my hands, man it hurts lol, at the light I had to look at my hand to see if I'm holding the clutch or not as I couldnt feel a damn thing.

At what point do you decide to get Heated Vest, or Gloves ?

Around 40 degrees F is about my limit. If I had some non perf pants, and a heated vest i'd be down for more.

Below 50. The ride is no longer fun when you can't move your hands.

I'm in until it drops below 40 as well. Colder doesn't bother me (although heated gloves are sounding more and more appealing!), but once it get colder, I figure there's a good chance there will be salt on the road, and I don't want that crap on my bike.
