I have a Hero 3 silver and black, and Hero 2. And I like my Hero 2 the best. Best battery life, and no bugs.

I have experienced several random "shut off's", and lousy battery life (wifi disabled, verified with no blinking blue LED) with my Hero 3 Silver. Definitely not as robust as my Hero2.

Yes, the Hero 3 Black takes marginally better (marginally to the human eye) better video, but this is pre post processing and video editing. Almost all compression techniques reduce the quality of the raw footage to the same level. After compression and post processing, there is no visible difference between silver and black. And I would imagine majority of people recording video are going to post porcess/compress for youtube or whatever. I doubt they are going to load Gigabytes of raw unedited footage.

The black series also has even lousier battery life than the silver, and it eats a serious amount of memory in 1080P 60 FPS mode. I like the Silver better than the Black. But I like my Hero2 the best because of it's consistent performance and longer battery.

LOL.. no kidding.

Physically, we didn't even see the difference. Only until we noticed the 3 on the Camera was different shades.

Other then that, they look identical.

So bizarre.

Whoa... in that case I'm lucky being outdated on my gopro2 specially after getting it for only $120 bucks with 32 gig sd card and exta battery and hard case for it too

.

there is a huge difference between 4k and 1080p
but most computer and video playback can't use it yet
it's more geared for what's coming next.... just like 1080p was a few years back.

but you can definitely see a difference between 60fps and 30fps
if your just wanting to make some you tube clips then any camera will do
but if your wanting to play them
back on your 60" plasma ... the better cameras and higher frame rate will make a much better video
it just comes down to what you want out of your recordings.

Heck there's guys still recording video in 480 Standard def.

personal preference

So with all the bad reviews I see around the web and on Amazon.
You guys here are saying that you are experiencing none of these issues?
I soooo want one but I am just scared of wasting my money on an awesome but broken product.

I just saw that a charger for the WiFi Remote came out.

How is the remote charged when you buy the Hero3 pack? Is there a charger in the pack?

I have a Hero1 and am thinking about buying a 3 since it's nice with a remote on the bike during track time and WiFi for setting up the picture initially (Else I would just save money and buy a Hero2)

My wife bought me a the white edition for Christmas. I have had zero issues. I have not loaded anything to youtube yet. I have about a dozen videos of my ride to work and home. (All a strait line and boring.) I am still messing around with different settings and mounting locations.

ETA:

Also, I find the app for the phone to be worthless. I could see the benefit if the camera was mounted in a hard to reach location and you needed it to start and stop the recording. It drains the battery faster and I have no problem just pressing the button on the camera. The video preview is nice, but not necessary. I want the app to show me what I just recorded and it does not do that... Lame.

.

Good Info.

It's the same with us.

Sold nearly 100 of these Cameras.

Zero Issues that we know of.

We are starting to wonder if some of this Neg . Feedback going around is from Competitors trying to put doubt in potential Customers.

That's not to say, that no one's GP ever locks up or has some glitches. But, not to this extent.
