HWY. MAN or BACK ROADS

.

On the way to the mountain’s this past weekend with the family, I noticed a good amount of bike’s on the interstate.

I know you may have to get on the interstate from time to time, but when I’m on the bike on a trip I try to do back roads as much as possible. Even if it's a longer route.

Just wondering how you guy’s feel about interstate riding????????
Avoid at all cost. Or ride them all the time.

Avoid at all costs. The road I live on connects to highway 1 on one side and Skaggs springs road on the other. 2 of the best roads out here so I got lucky on that one.

It depends on where you live! some don't even have back roads, both could be dangerous.
IMO, Back roads for fun, Hwy for commute and travel.

There are some awesome back roads up behind Sacramento.

I live on the SC coast. its flat. even the back roads are straight.

When im "on the way to the mountains" I can spend all day on shitty, just as straight back roads... or I can slab it at high speed in a straight line to the mountains, be there in a couple hours, and spend the entire weekend riding amazing roads.

so yes. in that case I take the interstate. You're in NC, where there are atleast some hills, and therefore the backroads provide atleast some entertainment.... remember that everywhere doesnt have interesting backroads.. some are just like 2 lane interstates, with lower speedlimits and deer jumping across.

you're less likely to be in an accident there... by far.

however if you are in one, its more likely to be fatal.

that said, the odds are still in your favor vs a backroad or any road with side streets.
