Humm I would not let someone "break in the tires", but that's just me....

I read this article and found it quite interesting. This is why it's good to have a mechanic that you can trust and one that may not work for a dealer. The reason, the independent mechanic's reputation is on the line and he gets his business from referrals, not the manufacturer. Having said that, I hope riders that purchased from these guys have not been hurt.

I bought my 08 from Southern Honda. The service manager told me that he personally rides each bike a couple of miles before it is sold. Mine had 4 miles on the ODO when I bought it.

The only thing I can warn about Southern is to read the fine print when you buy it. If you request the Honda Care extended warranty over the phone with the salesman they will switch it with their own company's extended warranty. If you don't notice that when you're signing the paperwork it's a big headache later to get it fixed.

Also, I've always gotten a discount on a new helmet or other accessories when I bought a new bike from other dealers on the day I brought it home. Not so with Southern. They won't budge a nickle on anything. However, if you call them back a few weeks later and mention that fancy helmet you were looking at in the display case they're all too happy to offer a big discount.

My bike had 3 tenths of a mile on it from once around the building Everything was as it was supposed to be. I'm very happy with where I got my bike.

i tried buying an 06 RC51 from there new in early 07, they refused to accept a check from USAA, a BANK certified check because the business manager never heard of USAA.... they wouldnt even call to verify....

I'm sure he was doing more than scrubbing the tires when doing the 4 mile check. I'd rather have the front wheel fall off when they were doing the initial ride than when I rode off from the dealership.
