A lot of guys are very bitter about this oil burning issue. If you ask on here you will usually get a ton of negativity about it. Almost every high performance (or average for that matter) vehicle I've owned has at least used some oil. The 08 I owned burned some I guess. Just check the f$ckin oil and you'll be fine. A lot of bikes use very little oil but a lot of bikes don't have the qualities the Honda has either. The kawi will be a disappointment if you ride mainly street. Trust me.

Has the oil burning issue actually been shown to be the definite cause of any issues with the bike? I've seen no one with that proof. Running it out of oil is probably all you need to worry about.

Me personally didn't check my oil and rode the bike bone dry before and still didn't fuck up on me... But after that I always check pre during and post!!! Just because I do t want to be ignorant "again" and let it happen again

Bought New 08 leftover in 2010 ,12,000 miles now . Now oil issues or any problems at all. 2 track days and 3 trips to Deals Gap and having a blast.

mine seems to burn some. not sure how much. But yah went to the dealership they have the excessive engine noise recal before 5 years and the hose clamp recall in the system. BUt those guys have never heard of the oil burning issue. So ill probably be screwed with trying to get them to fix it!

Not everyone will be satisfied with the 08+ models.. Some will have a burning oil issue and others wont.. As said above just check your oil and you will be fine. Think of it as extra maintenance..

Yeah, if Honda did then it must be fine. Reliability is overrated anyway.

There is big difference between 2007 and 2008.
You said you would put 6000 km in a year!?? Thats 3700 miles a year!
Thats one oil change and 1 extra liter of oil.you will not get nice bike, in mint condition, with newer engine that burns very very little oil for 4 dolars a liter extra? Even if it spends 1 liter on 1000 km, you put 6000 miles ,thats 6 liters x 4 bucks,=24 bucks.you will lose all the fun for 24 bucks?

I have given this a LOT of thought...it is very unlike me not to be umpulsive !!

Let's assume this oil usage becomes an issue...I am a graduate mech eng and know my way fairly well around IC engines..

In that case I will open up the engine myself. Rebore and hone the block and start throwing aftermarket parts (pistons, rods, bearings etc...). Then I could also throw in a pair of high lift cams, port it etc...before fully balancing and assemble it with the most care ...

I would then end up with a VERY powerful engine for the cost and effort...so how bad can that be ?

There is no bike I like the looks/finish of more so than the '08 Blade ..I'm gonna take the leap..wish me luck guys ...

I am located in Malta (EU) and any bike imported will be subjected to taxes which would make the cost prohibitive ...
