are they pretty much the same? im trying to install a Factory Pro Shift Star kit on my 12, but i only have the manual from the 08 RR

i believe they are. 12 got new goodies but same motor just with different maps me thinks

For the most part the engines are identical.

Aside from slight piston/ring changes, the 2010+ were fitted with larger diameter crankshaft ends and flywheels in the aim to stabilize throttle response by increasing crankshaft inertia (by 7%; Yes, it does work!).

Maps were reworked for the 2010+ and then again adjusted for the 2012.

OP: Shift star installation guide from an 08 will work just fine!
