Which Chain Breaking Pin To Use? Help!

I'm trying to break off the chain's master link and used a 3mm pin and shit broke already lol did a ton of research and there isn't anywhere that states which pin to use.

I tried to use the 4mm and it didn't work so i went to a smaller one. I want to preserve the chain so I am only trying to remove the master link off the chain.

Can someone help me here? Should I use the 4mm pin? and which side should i be pushing the pin through?

The riveted side? or the inside portion of the chain?

You can either try to drill the pins head and then nock it out or use a grinder and gently grind the top part of the pin away .
