California or not

How can I tell if my 2007 CBR1000 is made in California or not? I heard that the bikes made in California have a catalytic converter... Is this true?

The cat is a dead giveaway yet it's not hard for someone to swap it out for 49-state collectors (headers). Take the VIN to the DMV or check the build-code on the ECU; I believe it's mapped slightly leaner for CA thus using a different build ECU than the rest of the US bikes.

Cheers

They have different model numbers.

CBR10RR7 is the 49 state bike, and CBR10RRL7 is the California version.

This it totally retarded. I live in California and I can't bring a bike in from another state because of it. More money for the bureaucrats.

You can import a 49 state bike, if it has 7500 miles or more on the clock.
As far as identifying a CA model; look at the emissions sticker
