Need help! How to remove rim tape glue from wheels?!

My 1000RR 2008 had some hideous white rim tape installed which I really disliked...

I carefully removed it but as hard as I may the glue just sticked to the wheel. Now I have tried water, soap+water, dry cloth, surgical spirit, paraffin etc to try and remove this glue residue but it just wont budge !

The only way I could remove it was to slowly scrape it with a lot of finger pressure until it gets 'gummy' and goes off...this would take me at least 8 hours to do both wheels! Do any of you have any suggestions?! Heat maybe?! It's the only thing I have not tried ...

Any suggestions please? Thanks for any help!

Goo gone, or wheel cleaner. If you don't have them powdercoated or painted I don't know why you didnt just go straight to some products.

I tried alcohol....nothing seems to work...

My last resort is going to be goo gone. It is not available locally as have never seen it in shops. I bought a small bottle off ebay. We'll see how it works ...
