06 Getting hot : Honda CBR 1000RR Motorcycle Forums: 1000RR.net

Hi All

Here is the issue.. I live in Brisbane Australia where it happens to get very very hot at times currently we are expecting the temp to reach low to mid 40's (104 ). Here is the prob I serviced the bike some time back all fluids from front to back the bike was running great untill I hit some heavy traffic and I watched the temp go upto 108 (226) then go back down when we started to move again so all normall..

Now the bike is running around 2 to 3 degrees hotter normally I would just take the thermostat out and live with the fact that it will take a little longer to warm up I am just not sure how the bike will react with doing so is it safe to take it out or not??

Don't take out the thermostat
If you're worried about the temp put on a manual fan switch.
You could also change out your coolant, water wetter and engine ice are popular options

I think I will put a manual fan switch in..

I have only just done coolant lol but if there is something better then I am keen what is water wetter or engine ice I dont think I have ever seen it at any of the shop's here..

Sweet I will be buying the engine ice there is a shop about 1 hour's ride from me... Thanks for all the help

lol you say that now.. Christmas day will be hot and the bike's don't like it much tho night riding is good because it is so warm so that is a plus i guess..

I am in SA, and also gets 30+ here, got the same problem in traffic, I have seen 110 on my bike once

Damn Aussie heat lol..
I haven't seen mine hit 110 it is good to know that someone else in oz is having a similar issue..
Did you do anything to help keep the temp down??
I noticed a bike on this forum that had a steel bladed fan if someone knows where i can buy one of these i am very interested..
