Summary: R1 looks good, sounds good but performance sucks. 1krr Looks horrible but performance is awesome. I should have got the looker since I don't plan to race/track.

Please provide some evidence that the R1's performance "sucks." And by that I mean solid data, not personal observations based on beliefs.

Yamaha makes great bikes. I loved my 05 R1. The 09+ R1, however, is just SO bulky and heavy. The CBR1k looks and feels like a 600cc bike compared to it.

The performance doesn't suck, its just sucks relative to the zx10r, cbr1000rr, gsxr1000 (maybe not the gsxr). Weight spoils acceleration and handling. Its definitely heavier and slower, but the worst part is that the transitions are not nearly as fluid as a cbr. And I'm an R1 fan. Wish I had one.

My mates got an 08R1 and I ride 07CBR1k

We did 3rd and 4th gear runs, and I pull ahead of him everytime, if behind I catch him and go past him.

He has got a PC and insides taken out of pipes
I got a aftermarket pipe

Will do dyno runs sometime as I wanna see the power figures for us both
