There's a reason the R1 finishes last in most shootouts and comparos. It a great idea that doesn't work well in everyday situations. Just read some of these shootout evaluations. I understand you can flash the ecu and get more power but you can get more power out of any bike if you dump cash into it. You should, however, get the bike you want to get and enjoy it. I actually prefer the look of the current R1 compared to the 08 and under. And it does sound tits. I've also seen two R1s traded back in with under 2000 miles because the owners disliked them that much. And this was within a few months of each other. So the dealer stopped ordering them! But I'm sure a lot of peeps love them as well.
