feed back would be great thinking of getting one i love honda but i think i might be having a change of heart a friend let me ride there r1 and i must say i was impressed

heavier, has a pipe under the seat that gets hot, swingarm and suspension doesn't handle as smoothly as a CBR, less mid-range torque than CBR, (all my opinion). But I did enjoy the R1. You would just have to do a lot of things to it to get it like Josh Hayes' bike. Even then, I still prefer the CBR.

R1 is a secksi machine, you wouldn't be disappointed.

There's a reason the R1 finishes last in most shootouts and comparos. It a great idea that doesn't work well in everyday situations. Just read some of these shootout evaluations. I understand you can flash the ecu and get more power but you can get more power out of any bike if you dump cash into it. You should, however, get the bike you want to get and enjoy it. I actually prefer the look of the current R1 compared to the 08 and under. And it does sound tits. I've also seen two R1s traded back in with under 2000 miles because the owners disliked them that much. And this was within a few months of each other. So the dealer stopped ordering them! But I'm sure a lot of peeps love them as well.

a riding buddy just took my 2011 1krr for a test ride. he has an 06 R1. -2 in the front, +1 in the rear. my cbr is just +1 in the rear.

He fell in love with my 1krr. wants to ride it again. He's a track junkie.

I have had a 2005 r6 and liked it and I had a 09 r1 and hated the feel the new engine to me felt slow doggy and vibrated like a Harley. It felt very heavy but did sound sick and the exhaust sucks, it got horribly hot in traffic and felt like your leg was going to melt I even had my header wrapped. I felt my 06 1k rr was more of a bike as far as power and handling. Now compared to my 12 far superior machine then the 09 r1. But I can't help with a 12 r1 vs 12 1krr not sure what Yamaha has changed since then and don't care I am in love with the honda! Everyone rides different and likes different bikes. Best bet is research and ride one or two if your buddy's have any.... The r1 does look good IMO just don't like the huge pipes against the tiny taillight it kinda gets lost to me...

Had my friends 09 R1 for a couple of weeks.

Negatives:
Seems heavier than the CBR, not as willing to fall into turns. Hot as hell, absolutely roasts your lower half. Vibrates a lot at slow speeds as well.

Positives:
Sounds really nice, very moto-gpish. Throttle is really responsive, it's eager to go in pretty much any gear/speed.
