Being a 1krr forum i imagine you guys would recommend me repair my bike? I'm a crafty fellow with lots of experience building engines... maybe its worth it to buy the tools and do it myself. hrmm! (that would please the accountant im sure!)

Sorry. Oil burner... big time. I'm up to about a quart every 400 miles.

Its parked at the moment. I've hard estimates of up to 2500 to fix it, or scrap it and start over. Even if it is fixed doesn't mean the problems stop... just postponed.

I'm lucky to be in a position where bike and kid financially isn't a debate. Its more of a debate with the wife, as to do i really need it. Being that i have a truck and other modes of transportation, i don't necessary "NEED" it.

When those funds could go towards something more "life goal" related.

I found a salvage yard that has bikes relatively cheap, and scrap out engines too... maybe i need to just get a salvage bike as a spare parts bike. My only concern with that is... that bike most likely will burn oil too.

Just some talking points here. Of course i will obviously make the decision. However the point of posting, as is in most cases, this type of thread is to poll the "audience" for ideas not previously considered. :-)

^ Is it a 2008 or newer bike? If so, it shouldn't cost you a dime. Honda did mine free of charge. I contacted the dealer where I bought it, and didn't get anywhere. So I contacted American Honda customer service. It's definitely worth the effort.

this isnt a big problem if its 08 and newer, enough bitching at honda and they will fix it becuase its a recall issue

I'd call Honda first an tell them they need to call your local dealer and approve the fix. That way you skip the dealer run around, which will happen!!

I ride a lot I commute a lot... My daughter just turned one on the 9th and bike never is a problem, sure I ride a little less but idc I get to be with my daughter in the truck instead of my wife on the back keep the bike fix it

If it's not an arm and a leg, keep it. If it is, def get rid of it and man up for your kid. If I had to sell it for my son, it would be gone tomorrow.
