Just wanted to give an update on the bike just for future record if somebody else finds themselves in a similar predicament...
The bike is running strong over 6000 miles later. I did an oil and filter change (mobil filter and oil) at 600 miles, again at and every 2k since then. What was murky, brownish and swirly oil during the first oil change wasnt anymore at 1500... so replaced the oil filter again at 1500. Bike felt alive again. I also drained and flushed the coolant, clutch and brake fluids soon after I got her. There was some corrosion in the tank that wasn't obvious when writing the original thread but I replaced the tank as well and no worries there now either. Also used suzuki brand injector cleaner on the first new tank of gas. Didnt notice a difference but i trust it did its job.

EDIT: Also bought new tires Pirelli Diablo Rosso IIs (side note: the rear lasted me 5000 miles. Fronts still good in the center but the shoulders probably have about 1000 left in them. Great sticky tire) Noticed a difference right away...better feedback, much more predictable. Original tires looked great but gripped like butter on a pan compared to the fresh rubber.
