Front Sprocket Cover/Release Cylinder Removal

Today I replaced my chain along with my front & rear sprocket on my 2005 cbr1000. After I remounted the slave cylinder I was getting a lot of oil spillage from where the push rod is inserted. Is this just the seal needing replaced or is there anything else I should check before doing that? Seems odd that just from removing it and putting it back in I'd do enough damage to cause this much leaking.
