Honda recalls and notices etc.

I'm new here and new owner (two weeks) of an '08 1KRR.

After reading many of the threads and posts, I've come across mention of various Honda recalls and notices. A crank issue applies to an "early" production '08, e.g., and I've seen copies of some notices that some owners received from Honda.

Question (and I hope it's not staring me in the face somewhere on the site; if so, I apologize for having to ask): where can I find (based on VIN number, it would seem) whether my bike is early (or late) production and where can I find a collection of all Honda recalls and notices?

Thanks!

I just ran into this scenario...because i bought my bike at 350miles didnt know if the recall maintenance was done on it...first...how many miles do you have on your bike...and then call this place with your vin to find out if the proper maintenance was performed...hope that helps

You're the man, Visionary! I called American Honda (using the number you provided) and, after giving my VIN number to the rep, I learned that the two "update" services were completed in 2009 and that the factory warranty for the crank noise recall (should the problem arise on my bike) has been extended for 5 years from the end of the one-year standard warranty. In my case, that takes it to July 2014.

Perhaps best of all, they have updated their database for my VIN with my name and address for future notices.

Thanks, again.

Well, all I know is the Honda rep told me the warranty extension is five years from the end of the original one-year warranty. I just spoke to him.

Maybe he's wrong.

Well its the same, the one year factory waranty does not starts untill bike has been sold first time.so the extencion is aditional 4 years and together with the factory one years makes total of 5 years. Mine is 2008 but first time has been sold in march 2009 so my waranty for crank ends march 2014.
My clutch recal was done from firstnowner in june 2009,but when i had the noise back in september this year,ii bring it to honda thinking its the crank, and they said its bad clutch, and that the first recal was unproperly instaled and had a small crack.so they did Re-Recal for my clutch and it was all free of charge payed by Honda. And got free oil change by mistake.
