As long as they don't interfere with the forks turning in any way. That was the main consideration for me.

Hello 1Tap. I had the same dilemma as you not too long ago. I got some great pointers from fellow members and did the air flapper mod to tuck the ballasts. Here is a site that I used to do the mod....
