Ok... My right fork seal went out on me, so I am re-doing the forks all at the same time. I just put my ohlins rear shock on, so there won't be a better time to do up the front.

I am not about to waste my money on the Ohlins R+T forks just for the gold bling, so I'm going to re-valve and re-spring the stock showa forks instead.

Right now I have pretty much narrowed it down to:

-RaceTech .95kg front springs - for my weight(for racing not street, and the stock springs are way too soft anyways)
-RaceTech Fork Gold valve kit
-Optional shim kit with new stack top out spring - for the 1000rr forks
-new OEM fork seals, dust seals
-new OEM internal bushings
-Ohlins fork oil

does this look alright? Should I look into a few other parts/brands instead? I was also thinking of going with the Race-tech internal bushings and possibly their fork seals over the honda OEM stuff, but can't decide(they are basically of equal price).

how much is all this gonna cost? just wondering cuz traxxion dynamics sells the ak-20 cartridge for about $1K. I believe aftershock is also going to start carrying this cartridge.

well... it's not even close to a grand... I looked into that traxxion kit already. Springs are like 109, the optional shim kit is $40, then like so more than 50 bux in the seals and bushings, then 20 bucks for good oil... plus labor

i'll most likely be riding out of there with a huge grin on my face for under $500 with this stuff

how about going with mike fitzgerald, aka, thermosmann suspension. He said he would revalved my forks and install the correct spring for $400 + $15 for shipping. Apparently, maximoto317 has had positive results with thermosmann. Other than that, cant really help you any further. Regardless, post up a review after you get your forks done!

racetech valving is junk--dont waste your money, for $600 more ypou could get ohlins cartridges and have a top notch set up in lieu of some racetech aborted mess

ohlins cartridges installed for $1100? wish i knew where that deal was a few weeks ago. mine were quite a bit more - sent the forks to ohlins / expert for install.

Get Ohlins valves, not that racetech sh*t. Ohlins valves don't cost much more than Racetech but are a helluva lot better.

Also, are you going to be doing the work yourself or have a pro do it? If you're doing it yourself (not a great idea unless you do it for a living) then not a prob, but if you're looking for a pro to do it then add another 250-350 for labor. It's not a simple job, plus the pros do more than just slap some valves in there. Just my opinion though.

yes. I'm having a pro install everything. They are going to do at least 15% off the labor, since they kinda owe me in one form or another. They are a very reputable shop.

Just be sure they have worked with 1000rr's before. There is a learning curve, as anyone on the board who was on the early part of the curve will testify. I don't think ANY of the shops had great experiences with the forks the first couple times.

stay with the ohlins valves and springs ala dan kyle. racetech stuff is pretty low tech.
