OK I just picked up my 1000RR yesterday and put 84 miles on it. Today I took off the cowls to replace the front blinkers with flushmounts. I put the bike back together and it won't start. It doesn't make the high pitch sound when I first turn the key on like my 929 did before statring . Is it supposed to? It turns over but will not fire. Any suggestions as to what could be wrong. I checked fuses. Everything looks good.
Thanks
Devin

The sound is normal. It will do it for like 3 seconds. You are sure you didnt accidentally disconnect any wires that were not supposed to be? OTher than that I really dont know what to say.

I'll bet it's your engine kill switch - easy to accidently "bump" into the off position and the engine will still crank but not start with it in the off position. This would also account for the FI not "priming" when you turn on the key. I know this from personal experience from doing the same thing! Strange as no other Honda I've owned over the past 10 years would even crank when the engine kill switch was in the off position.
good luck

Yeah it will only make the sound (priming) if the engine switch is in the run posistion.

Ok we may be getting somewhere. Now that I know that the 1KRR is supposed to make the same sound. But how do I find what the cause is? I have flipped the kill switch around to see if that was it. And it will crank in both ways but not fire. Fuses all look good. I am going to check some more wire connectors.
Thanks

Does anyone has a service manual so that I could check to see if there is a code? And where to hook up the jumper?

Ok,
I got it.
First I want to thank everyone who helped. It was the Bank angle sensor. When I took off th front cowl I must of installed it upside down (idiot). I though it was part of the headlamp assembly. Well for those that are curious it mount on th eback side of the head lamps. Thanks again now i can continue breaking in my bike. By the way..Is it me or is this bike alot easier to flick than the 929?
Thanks Again Everyone!!!

Hey Devin - can you be more specific about the bank angle sensor - just curious but do you push a "reset" button or (in real life) just pick the bike up and cycle the ingnition once to reset the sensor?
thx - b

I thing that you have to stand it up and disconnect the battery for a minute.

Make sure your head light prong is plug in.... honda hooked up a relay to check the head light circuit before letting the bike start...
