Theres been some discussion regarding Power Commanders being bought from the states and installed into Australian delivered bikes.
Concerns that the same bike in different markets may vary in fuel mapping etc. and that a US sold PC3 for lets say, a 2005 blade might not be fully compatible with the same bike sold in Australia, therefore it's better off to buy your PC3 direct from a local reseller at their massive mark-ups. Is there any truth to this? Where do you all get your units from?
Sounds a bit to me like a scare campaign.
Although Birdman would be the authority on this, it doesn't smell right. Even if the bikes have different ECU's (and I don't know why they would), you should still be able to get a map that optimizes the power band of the bike.
The_Doctor 10-23-2007, 08:29 PM Unit itself, no different. Maps? Different, but easily fixed.
Got mine from Superbike Supply (where else?), almost half the local price.
No problems with compatability.
FIREBLADE 10-23-2007, 11:38 PM julz have a read through this and see what Birdman45 thinks. hes the expert.

Blurt 10-23-2007, 11:54 PM Buy it direct from the US, you buy it from a dealer/agent here you'll get bent over. In fact all bike stuff, bikes also, are a rip off here. Had a look at the exchange rate lately? we are being shafted bad.
Yes. we get fisted here with no KY.
And what happened to the Free Trade Agreement?
Got mine from Superbike Supply (where else?), almost half the local price.
No problems with compatability.I been trying to log on to SS but their site is down.
Currently I have a shopping cart of goods at www.morepoweracing.com who I've found have the cheapest stuff but I'd like to compare it to SS.
EDIT: SS working now :)
gts32 11-06-2007, 09:25 PM Try www.superbikesupply.com.au for Australian delivered PC3 - They are $430AUS for the 1000RR with full manufacturer's warranty.

still get it cheaper from the states.
No probs with pc bought in us.
Works well.:beat: :beat:
That's good coz I bought one off Brad last week along with an Akra slip-on. Should be on it's way. I'm sure it'll be stuck in Aus Customs for months while they figure out it's not a pipe bomb.
Mdala 11-08-2007, 03:39 PM Its no dramas, I saved $ 300 on the helmet, & a good deal on the slip on. I buy all my major gear from US, & it only takes about a week to get here, there is a far better selection in the States. Some mob in Queensland wanted $1200 for a set of braided lines, sorry Australian bike parts are a rip off.

Same deal over this side of the tasman.
gts32 11-12-2007, 09:42 PM $1,200 for braided lines???? What the....
2 line front kit should cost under $150AUS and a 3 line front & rear kit should cost under $200AUS (with Australian ADR)
AussieRepso7 11-12-2007, 10:06 PM my local stealer retails them at over 600 bucks
JTSX1 11-12-2007, 11:45 PM Wow, you guys really are getting shafted. Can't believe the same products over here are cheaper, even though our dollar is getting killed by Euro and B. pound. I've always heard people say this, but never believed it until this thread and a few others. Well, Austrailia still has great looking women :)
Bladerunner17 11-13-2007, 01:22 AM Other than oil everything else I buy is from the USA, I know people get pissed off for not supporting the local guys, but when they have realistic prices I will buy from them until then I am not changing.

its all bullshit...buy from the usa. aussie dealers like using their fist dry and then laugh as you are walking out the door. seen the dollar rate lately:thumbsup: buy up now and to all the aussie dealers:thefinger: :thefinger: :thefinger:
gts32 11-27-2007, 09:34 PM The PC3 units are essentially the same unit, the maps can be very different.
I certainly would not be using a USA custom map for an Australian bike with similar modifications as you can not guarantee the quality of the tune and the fuel etc is not the same.
I recommend a custom dyno tune for best results, regardless if you have purchased the PC3 from the USA or from Australia.
Each PC3 has a unique serial number. The Australian distributor will not honour any warranty on a grey import PC3.
Are you a stealer or working for one? This is all crap. If you're having a dyno, feel free to say so. Otherwise ...

your first paragraph.....semi-bullshit
your second paragraph...bullshit
your third paragraph...true
your fourth paragraph...who gives a shit about aussie distributors...pain in the arse to deal with....you can send your pc3 back to the states for warranty, get it fixed, returned back to aus before an aussie retailer/distributor could take a shit and wipe his arse clean
squirts 12-03-2007, 11:27 PM i've tried dealing with the "morepowerracing" mob before...
because we're in aus, they want all this extra crap just to make sure you're legit..
better off dealing with brad i reckon (or get it through someone else more willing to help)..
i got mine through www.motofuelusa.com - jamie the guy there was very helpful.
i paid USD$259.00 + $30.00 USPS express shipping.
or can try www.motorcycletoystore.com - have bought a few goodies from them in the past aswell.. Amber there is a great help..
Been waiting over a month now (delayed due to other things). Hope it arrives before Xmas but I won't hold my breath.
Well the PC3 finally arrived today.
Was for the 06 model so I was like :banghead:
But Brad (and the search button) assures me it'll hook up to the 05 no problem.
So I downloaded the stock 04-05 map from the Dynojet site and replaced the default 06 map with the more appropriate 04-05.
I have another question regarding the maps on the Dynojet site. I noticed there's European ones. Would these be better matched to Aus delivered bikes than the US/default maps? For example I heard the US blades get a different rear sprocket while the Aus bikes are closer to Euro spec.
The_Doctor 01-21-2008, 11:09 PM Yes- it will work fine.

Run the euro map, as Australia and NZ get the euro models.
But when you can, get a custom map done for your bike, it's well worth the $$.
