I was wondering if anyone already has a full system on the RR mated to a PC or not?
What where the results? And more important, how is the driveability on the street?
I´m thinking of ordering the full Akrapovic but noticed that almost every powercurve with a full system tend to loose below 4500rpm wich doesn´t bother me much, what is important is to keep drivivebility and smothness, no stutter or judder is what I want. With a few poonies loss below 4000rpm I can live with just not with hesitation to the throttle.
Any input from anyone?
So nobody has one yet? :(
And no feedback what so ever?
Nicky310 05-07-2004, 12:52 PM I think everyone's waiting for the Arata or the Micron, as they will probably be as powerful or more powerful, and should be noticeably cheaper than most of the other systems.
Seems to me I´m gona be a first in a couple of weeks
Nicky310 05-08-2004, 11:48 PM I've got a Micron system on order. Supposed to be coming in a couple weeks, also.
Im waiting for the Full Ti from Yoshi :)
franklaw996 05-09-2004, 07:30 AM waiting on a full ti evo akra system. i dont know what the micron are selling for but i think they are around a grand and are stainless in construction no?
the all stainless akrapovic is also around a grand and in my opinion better quality than most others. never seen and arata in person but they do look nice in pics. i think i saw somewhere that they will cost 1400 USD or so and they wont even stick out the back of the bike in a straight line. seems like the evo i have coming for less than that is the better choice afterall.
Nicky310 05-09-2004, 02:39 PM The Micron has a stainless steel header/pipes, & various muffler types. The serpent system with Ti muffler is about 11.3 lbs lighter than stock. According to Akrapovic's website, their racing system is about 11.5 lbs lighter than stock, and the evo system is about 13.5 lbs lighter than stock. From what I've read, stainless is heavier, but it's stronger so the pipes can be made thinner than with Ti. However, the Ti pipes are still usually somewhat lighter.
The cheapest price I've found for Micron is IndySuperbikes.com, w/ Ti muffler for $862.95 + shipping (about $30 to me).
For reference, IndySuperbikes has the Akra evo for $1436.95 & the full Race system for $1166.95. Others may have Akra for less. They also have the Yoshi RS5 full system w/ Ti muffler for $724.95.
franklaw996 05-09-2004, 08:53 PM yes i see that...i bought mine from them a while back for a lot less. either way...we still get to ride a badass machine!
My friend have Akrapovic full titanium. 2200Eur here in Finland . .
Lower noise than mine Arrow slip-On, havent try if more powerfull.

Wow that´s expensive :yikes: it only costs 1800€ here in Portugal.
And in Germany they go for 1600€.
How is the drivivebility and smothness on the street with that Akra?
Any stutter or judder? Does he have a Power Comander installed?
Arata on order here!
The power (over the entire range), weight (full TI), sound and build quality of Arata is just awesome. I had one on my 954, and should have one on the 1000rr in 10 days or so!
Akra, IMO, only gives gains up top, and is expensive.
I will say that the Laser is a good looking exhaust.
Welcome to the board Mako. Post some pics of the new system if you can please.

Have you seen any dyno charts and info regarding the 1000rr to suport that?
Cause every chart I saw up until today of a full system on the new RR, will only add power from 4000rpm onwards with a slight drop below that. Regardless of make. Anyways gains from 4000 on is not top end to me. It is more midrange...

Not sure I speak Yoda, but I do know about Arata from my 954. On the 954, the Arata and the Hindle produced the best and broadest gains across the powerband. I did before and after dynos on the 954 (no I cannot post them as I sold the bike and gave the dynos to the buyer) and it clearly showed broad gains (with PCiii) across the powerband: SAE 11.8rwhp; SAE 4rwtrq. The only dip was at about 4000 rpms and it was from removal of a certain stock exhaust piece not present in the new system. This small deadspot was never an issue, as the only time I felt it was on the odd slow roll off where I bogged the bike for some reason. Most of the time, you blow right through the spot as you roll on throttle.
The Arata 1000rr system is full TI, a fair (but now higher) price, excellent build quality, great sounding, and will deliver excellent power. By all means, get what you like, but I have put my $$$ down on the Arata.

Hey Mako, you definatly don´t speak yoda 8)
I wasn´t dissing or anything just asking if you had suport to your statement. And as is, you don´t!
I hate when people try to back up some comment with things that have nothing in common like comparing the engine of the former blade with the new one.
If the Arata works on the 954 that does not mean it will automaticly work better than the rest on the 1000rr.
I´m on order for an Akra, wich does not mean I couldn´t change my mind, hence the question of some fact/chart on your part. At least I´m not buying blind on faith alone. I´m not brand loyal I could also go leovince or arata or devil or arrow or whatever... but I like to know, at least aproximatly, what I´m buying.
And regarding price and quality as a matter of fact it is cheaper for me to get any european brand than a jap or american brand.
Peace and sorry if I stepped on somebody´s foot here, it wasn´t in the least my intention.

Not only do I not speak Yoda, but I do not care to either!
I am sure that the Akra will be an excellent, high-quality system as they always are!
HOWEVER, the past is the best prediction of the future. I will leave it to your little green head to do some research here. You might want to go to the Kyle Racing Engines site and see the dynos for the ARATA + PCiii results on the 600rr while you are at it--another Honda bike where the system yielded big, broad gains. Btw, I have no vested interest in any system and am not affiliated with any brand.
I know you are correct about everything, so please save your hollow flames! I will post my before and after dynos when the system arrives and is installed. Right now, I am waiting like everyone else.
Again, congrats on your Akra, and I am sure it is/will be excellent.
I know you are correct about everything, so please save your hollow flames!
First of I wasn´t flaming...
second, when you say:HOWEVER, the past is the best prediction of the future.
you should think more carefully and fully understand what that means. If not, take a filosophy class...
third:
this was your third post and you are already wanting to bang heads with someone you don´t even know and who never disrespected you in the first place. I just asked in a very plain way if you had anything to back up your opinion and I wasn´t obviously refering to the past but to the present.
You just took the whole thing out of context and completely missed the point of the topic.
For last and since I´m new to this forum also, I will restrain myself to make any further comment on this subject.
Just please don´t try to make a fool out of anybody.
We are all inteligent people around here, at least that is what I like to think.
If you have any further comment on this, please feel free to PM me and keep the thread on topic, then we will have a  whenever you come to Portugal.
Be cool and ride safe.

Yoda:
No worries, I will call if I get out your way.
FYI, if you look at the AKRA site, they even say that their full systems are tuned to make power at the top of the powerband. This is track/race-oriented. Not good or bad, just what Akra has as a stated goal. My choice of the PROJECTED GAINS of the Arata is based on the same reason I chose the cbr1000rr over the new R1: I prefer lots of power throughout the range--not just up top. As soon as I can get them, I will post before and after dynos for the mods--that is the best I can do.
My comments are NOT anti-Akra; I think the Akra designs and craftmanship are among the best in the world! So, get what you want, ride safe, and be happy!
929jon 05-16-2004, 09:54 PM I just got my full Akrapovic racing system. I installed it last night. The power range is wider, with much more top end charge (like it needed more). The specific map from the powercommander feels like it is almost spot on, there are no flat spots or anything. It pulls cleaner and harder from 2700 up than with the stock system. Fit and finish was excellent, the only downside I have is there are no instructions at all included, it was kind of a crapshoot. Very happy with it though.
fqnmax 05-16-2004, 10:02 PM Wow, I've been calling a few place for an Akrapovic or Micron and nobody really knows when they will receive them. Where did you pick up your Akrapovic from? How does it sound? I had an Akrapovic on my R1 and it sounded good, not too loud but had a nice tone to it.

So if I understand correctly there are no issues regarding driveability at lower rpms? That is very important for me.
Thanks on the info and congrats
929jon 05-17-2004, 11:29 AM the bottom end of the powerband feels stronger to me than the stock pipe did. wheelies are easier, and the power is smoother and more progressive. and the top end is incredible now. (I saw 185mph on the speedo last night). I love the pipe. It is pretty loud though, with a very very deep tone.

still waiting on mine. By the way do you have carbon or TI can?
Any pics?? :bounce:
IronNutz 05-17-2004, 04:22 PM 929jon, if you don't post pics soon, I'm riding to Tulip Town and hunting you down! :D
929jon 05-17-2004, 11:44 PM I have the carbon fiber racing system. I havent taken any pics of the new pipe yet, but I will try to post them. I cut the exhaust heat shield shorter, about even with the carbon fiber Akrapovic bracket under the seat, looks sweet. no more hanging out aluminum heat shield, and the seat and tail light appear to be ok. only warm to the touch on an 80 degree day.
Ironnutz-where are you out of? we should meet up somewhere.
hard racing definitely hooked me up with the pipe, sounds like they are hard to get ahold of.
IronNutz 05-18-2004, 01:03 AM I'm in G.R. - If you've been riding for a while, we've probably met at some point considering how big our group has gotten. I used to ride a 00' R/W 929 that was all done up. Check us out here www.grstreetriders.com. Damn, where were ya on Sunday? There were at least 150 sportbikes from our group that met at the Cracker Barrel on Alpine for the Blessing. We'll definitely have to meet up at some point here soon.
929jon 05-18-2004, 10:27 PM I took some pics tonight, the heat shield removal seems to have no effect on melting anything, all looks great yet. The attachment is too big. I have to figure out how to post it smaller/less detailed. :?
929jon 05-18-2004, 10:56 PM here we go. my car is in one picture, a turbocharged small block mustang, with 88mm innovative turbo, etc. (in progress)
the 1000rr is sitting next to my 929, also with akrapovic racing system and pc3r.
Looks great!!! Can you please post a pick from the rear?

piarjr 05-20-2004, 09:52 AM Yesterday, I installed my new Akrapovic Evolution Full with carbon canister, looks great !! deep sound idle, not used at full, since the bike has just 200 Milles (saving it for later), also, installed PCIII & Jardine fender eliminator on it. The canisters does not look crooked, goes straight in the middle, pics to come

Yes, let´s see some pics. And tell us about drivability on the lower rpm´s... have you felt any loss of grunt?
piarjr 05-21-2004, 10:53 AM ok, these are the pics
Leonardo629 05-21-2004, 12:36 PM so I guess the removal of the stock heat shields are a must for this install.....
piarjr 05-21-2004, 03:49 PM not a must, you can leave if you want, but, if you do not cut it in a nice shape, it will looks ugly, since the shield has the oem canister shape (kind of square)

thanks,
another question, if I keep the stock heat shield, will it by any chance rub on the canister??
Cyber-RR 05-22-2004, 07:40 PM Damn pretty sight!! I love akrapovic's quality and sound. That Evo system is the bomb for the RR. I had a slip-on (carbon) for my R1 and it was super nice, the quality and craftsmanship of these pipes is pure butter. I cant wait to get an Evo for my RR, I will end up cutting my heat shield with a dremel and shaping it (bending) to fit above the carbon akra somehow. I just feel like the added insurance under the seat could be beneficial. I also plan on fabricating some way of relocating the rear brake res. under the seat (tail). Its kinda unsightly without the rear pegs, sticking out like a sore thumb IMO. What kind of fender elim. kit is that in these pics? Jardine???? Way cool bike, looks kick-ass.
rctyler 05-22-2004, 10:26 PM yeah, give us the scoop on the fender eliminator!!! nice!
nice pipe...i love how 'short' it is compared to the others. but if they actually release that oem-style oval canister, i'll be all over it!!!
