OK, I NEED soem new pads and got ticked off today as i planned to ride it.

well, it goes like this. I wake up, and move slow as i was planning to leave the truck. The truck is big, slow, and gets stuck in the So Cal traffic. I planned to lane split, hit the toll freeway and zip on into work.

well, I get all geared up, helmet on, got 15min to get to work and walk to the bike and FORGOT the damn thing is virtually metal to metal. I'm not going to ride it like that and man was freaked at that point. I literally ran my ass off back into the house and take off all my stuff and run to the truck for all the traffic is about to come.

Anyhow, I want to do it tomorrow and picked up some pads this evening.

I didn't want to drive to a shop 30miles away that had some pads called leirdo or something with that sound .I heard they are much better but didn't want to waste $30 in gas to get them. what are those pads called by the way and in your experience are they actually better?

I also heard OEM is thicker and a better pad that after market ones which is hard to believe although stock stuff isn't all that bad.

Anyhow, I bought some EBC HH, pt# FA390HH.

Are these a decent pad set? what is stock on the CBR1000? FF, GG, or are they HH's? I guess I could get it but have to dig around for the hard drive that has all the bike manuals, etc.

Any probs out of them that you know of?

Can't go wrong with EBC.. On cars. No idea about bikes!

so its prob like K&N. They are decent on cars and made their way with bikes. Or Yamaha who makes decent drums but also do bikes, and Suburu making DJ equipment.

They prob have it down ok....

I have never had a problem with EBC pads, use them all the time, slightly better than OEM.

EBC sucks. Backing plates warp. Stock is much better, and stock are HH pads as well. Galfer or Vesrah.

do they warp because of track use where they would get more of a hammering?
i agree with vesrah.

EBC car pads suck, too. I have heard they've made advancements to better their bike pads, but I can't confirm that.

I use Galfer for now, and couldn't be happier.

+ 1 billion & supersize that all the way to the bank (whatver that means).

I used them on my CRX and they warped my Mugen rotors repeatedly. After turning the rotors three times I took them off and threw them away. Galfer are excellent. Only trade off is brake dust for stopping power. I will try Vesrah this time around.

what about or street use? Not going to the track any time soon due to the busy nature of my life but hit the moutains when I can and ride'em pretty damn hard. What is the normal price range for the pads you speak of on average.

Heat kills the EBCs, and they get really hot anywhere you are trying to stop hard. I will PM you a price on Galfer pads.

Thanks for all the good info. I think brake pads get overlooked by some riders and I think the fact that this post is here will at least get people thinking about it. There are a lot of fairly reasonably priced mods that will do wonders for your bike. Some of them FREE even! (I'm all for the Galfer's; though i want to try Vesrah's next...Pretty excited to see how they do!) Anybody use the galfer superbike lines by the way? How are they?

Try the Carbonne Lorainne. Not as much initial bite as Galfer but stronger then OEM. The rears you can keep stock. You don't want the rears too strong.
