Valve clearance? [Archive]

I am at 14,000 miles. At 16,000 miles my owners manual says to get my valve clearance checked. Is that something that I can do myself? If not How long does it take and how much will it cost to have the dealership do it?. Also I need to replace my plugs. How many ft. lbs. of torque do I tighten them? And how do I take the maps that are on the other thread and puthem into my power commander?
