bdubb 12-26-2008, 03:03 PM Anyone here been running any Braking STX or SK rotors lately?
I am curious of some peoples thoughts on the STX vs. SK models and just overall curious about how they are holding up to use.

Who has used them, how did they do, and at what cost?

Aceycakes, repsolguy, Flix (although I think he's running carbon now), ... a lot of guys.
I'm not sure of the cost, but they are very durable. I've been contemplating rotor purchase and that's where the road led me. Brad (SBS not U) is stocking them, I believe, so turn should be quick.
jgetz524 01-08-2009, 08:34 AM I have been using them (SK) for about 1000 street miles. You know, awesome commuting to and from work:)
I got them for free from my "sponsor" so I did not pay anything for them. I also have never used anything other than stock before, too. A lot of help I am. I am using Galfer HH pads with them and they are holding up fine.

Any opinions on initial bite and friction of the rotors over stock, etc?
Silvy 01-08-2009, 01:15 PM http://www.1000rr.net/forums/showthread.php?t=55142&highlight=brake+rotor
check this thread, Brad.
bdubb 01-08-2009, 02:17 PM In regards to the braketech's I'm concerned with rusting, stress fractures, how they crash, etc.
What comes to mind with me is rust and being more brittle than the typical rotor...
Silvy 01-08-2009, 04:16 PM IDK bro. I surely wish some of the knowledgebles would chime in...
I figure you keep your bike inside, out of the elements. It shouldn't be a problem. You get quite a bit of traktime too

No biggy!
I think I am going to give the Brembo rotors and RCS master a go here in a few weeks.

That should be a near perfect combo. You'll be happy.

They have great initial bite over stock. Strong even braking power with much less effort.
Disclaimer: I also went from stock lines and pads to Galfer lines and HH pads at the same time I put the rotors on, I think that alone would be an improvment even without the rotors.
ChibbMD 01-22-2009, 10:32 PM Rotors are one of those things in motorcycling that I've never understood. Why are they so freaking expensive? I had to replace a set of warped rotors on my old gixxer and I took the plunge on a set of Galfer wave rotors. Ouch, they hurt the wallet. Are they really complex to manufacture? Are the materials costly? What gives?
Sorry to get off track...
