Chain Under Warranty

I bought an 07 hold over last year. I was told I had a 1 year warranty on the bike unlimited miles. I have about 6k on the bike and the chain has stretched ever so slighty into the red. I asked my Honda dealer (who I purchased the bike from) to replace and they refused saying it is a wear item. Most chains on new bikes have lasted me 15k miles. It does not sound right that they would not cover this in <1yrs time. Any thoughts?

the sticker is probalby wrong..... measure your links. And yes chain is like breaks. No one covers a chain.

I highly doubt that chain is worn. The sticker is dumb. I never use either one. That is not the correct way to determine chain wear. Go to the back of the sprocket. Pull the chain away from the sprocket. If you can pull the chain away from the sprocket enough that you can see daylight, the chain is worn. As far as adjusting the chain, there are a few ways to go about it. Easiest is to buy Gilles Chain Adjusters. Cheapest is to adjust it for both proper slack and having the sprocket centered in the chain links. Once you think you have it centered, snug everything up and ride it around the block. Throw it back on the stand and then look again. If still centered- great. If not, adjust it appropriately.

Chain is NOT covered under warranty. Neither are spark plugs, brake pads, tires, hand grips, fuel, oil, coolant, that little sticker that says 1000RR (you guessed it, NOT covered)

Have you been adjusting it properly, making sure it isn't too tight? That could cause it to stretch quickly; this may be a good time to do the 520 gear down mod.
