Actually I do. I use dual 6 core HP blades with 96 gig each that are SAN attached for a 15 host ESXi 5 farm. I run literally hundreds of servers with full HA. Once you get the virtualization bug and see how robust your environment can be you'll never look back.

I couldn't agree more! The setup I am working on has 6 HP DL380s. Dual Xeon 6 cores with 24 gig ram each. I am working on getting the HA setup on 3 out of the six in a cluster.. I am new to the HA setup. any tips? Unfortunately the only centralized storage we have is a 2 GBbit iSCSI connection to a NAS.

Damn x. Thats what i use.

Cept we are older, and im running through a vsphere 5.0 upgrade soon. I HATE CHANGE MANAGEMENT. pardone me... anyways...

4 HP C7000 Blade enclosures running BL460c blades, all with dual 6 core 96gb ram, Netapp SAS storage via fiber, and Flex 10 (10gb network). Have around 300 servers running now, with so much freaking headroom we can quadrouple in size and only utilize 50%.

Full HA/DRS, vmware SRM, netapp snap mirroring, and a good old fashioned DL380x6 cluster at our hot site.

VCenter ops is next up on the list of fun things to do.

God i love my job.

I miss the days of working with the 7tb HP EVA 5000 and 12 Dell PowerEdge 905's with Quad sockets and 96gb of ram.

Current company has a much smaller budget, no SAN, no HA . Still using VMWare for a couple hundred servers, just takes more work with the limitations in VMWare Essentials.

You will be happy with what VMWare can do.

We currently use VMWare on HP C7000's. Mixture of G7's and G8's. I manage over 1500 blades of various hardware specs.

Big ole pain in the ass sometimes....especially getting service from HP for the hardware. We are in the process of migrating to the web based management VMWare has been pushing. I hate it. Its slow.
