Anyone take their bike on Amtrak's Auto Train?
Bought my first 1000RR a week ago but, unfortunately, it's gotten cold here in northern Virginia.

Had a thought - load it on the Auto Train to Orlando or somewhere in Florida.

Anyone here done that? Even with a car. A pain or good experience?

Sorry for stumbling across this late, but I have done this. I live in DC and my mom lives near Daytona, so I rode out to Lorton and got on the Auto Train to Sanford, FL and it was about an hour ride from there to her house. A good trip. If you get one of those hitch carriers for a truck you can lock the bike on the back of your truck and it rides for free too. Something to think about if anyone does Dayton Bike Week/Beach Week or Biketoberfest.

The GF and i always visit the family in Tampa/Largo FL. I've always wanted to bring the bike down with me but i'd have to ride from Boston to VA (8hrs) and do the same on the return trip. hmm decisions decisions...not sure its worth it just for a weeks worth of riding.
