Helmet Question, size of visor opening?

Does the size of the "vision opening" vary by MFR? Every time I'm in a full tuck with my HJC all I can see is the helmet. Seems to me something with a little more peak in the middle of the opening would work better. I've had this helmet for 18 months, time for a new one.

I'm willing to spend 3-400 but prefer under 300. My opinion there is that it's better to spend less and buy a new lid every year than to try and keep an expensive lid for 3-4 years. I've landed on my head many times off-road so you can chalk that opinion up to experience (or head trauma).

Shop around for a Nexx X1R1, the opening is one of the widest and its still certified DOT/SNELL. I love mine.

Shoei RF1100 is excellent for solving this problem for me compared with other helmets I had. Bought my Shoei last year on closeout in graphics for $350. They fit my head perfectly, and perform amazingly better than mid range helmets in every way. The RF1100 is my second Shoei. I did try an Arai Signet Q that my Ex bought. Fit me well, and could see great in the tuck, but the chin of the helmet was too close to my mouth. Also a fantastic brand of helmet, but closeout prices tend to be $450 or so.

My Shark RSR2 is the same way. In a full tuck I wish it had more peak in the upper edge of the visor. But on the opposite side, more peak equals less forehead protection in a crash.

I just picked up a Scorpion EXO-500 and I feel when I wear it properly I have plenty of upper vision, more so than when I had the EXO-1000

I am not a fan of Shoei and I really wanted a AGV but again just didnt fit me well and the Scorpion is so nice on my head. Also the HJC RPHA but I couldnt bring myself to buy that

I have the bell star in matte black with smoked screen. Fit is great flows good and comfortable. The opening is very large, my glasses restrict my vision before the helmet does. It's also bery cheap at motorcyclecloseouts.com I know you said you wouldn't keep it long but I've had mine 4 years 50000 miles and the fabric is all still intact so they hold up very well. It's a top helmet for very cheap if you don't mind no graphics, which I dislike anyway. Think I paid $200, I apologize for grammer trying out the mobile app.

It probably doesn't fit you correctly then.
