Finished the paper work and the only thing left to do is pick up my new 2015 CBR1000RR tomorrow and make it home alive!
Started riding at 10 years old on a Kawasaki KXR 80 in the country fields. I went through a half dozen or so beater bikes in my late teens and early 20. Moved on to a lifelong dream of a 1974 BMW R75/6 as my daily rider in my late 20's which I still have for sentimental reasons, but no longer is street worthy. I'll credit it with making it well into 200K mile territory before giving in and becoming a great centerpiece and seat in the bar in our backyard.
I spent 6 years on a K1200RS which was purchased in upstate NY and made the move with me to Arizona. Eventually it was traded in for 4 more years of riding on my last regular ride, a K1300S which was my only mode of transport which I sold in a moment of sheer frustration with the heat of the Phoenix AZ metro in July.
It's been many years since I was riding regularly, but I'm excited (and only a tiny bit nervous) to get on the new machine. The speed at my fingertips combined with the much more aggressive geometry than what I've been used to for so long, coupled with a multi year hiatus from being on 2 wheels has me reminding myself to take it easy out of the gate.
Anyway, I'm excited to make the jump to the Honda. The K1300S had/has plenty of power and handling, but I suspect it's not at all comparable to the nimble and raw power of the machine I'll ride home tomorrow.
I'll be back with questions I'm sure. For now I'm just looking forward to making the pick up tomorrow and enjoying the ride, safely, home.
