Hi everybody,
I have a 08 cbr1000rr engine with some valves leaking, I saw the service manual and I know that the intake valves are titanium and I thought that the exhaust valves were titanium as well, but I notice on the manual that the Ex valves could be lapped, so Im confuse now since I know the Ti valves can not be lapped, so, anyone could confirm if the ex valves are steel?? or, if those could be lapped??

These models have titanium intake and exhaust valves so lapping is a no no!! We do quite a few of these cylinder heads and pretty much every time we disassemble one of these heads the valves and the valve seats are all pitted, so even if you could lap these valves in it wouldn't be enough to remove the pitting. This is why you have found that the valves are leaky.More then likely you are looking at replacing all the valves and cutting the valves seats in order to restore a good seal. Thanks Dan
