So I have a tire laying around for my 600rr but I need one for my 06 1000rr. I am low on cash and I was wondering if a 180/55 zr 17 will fit? Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

While it will fit it won't be right.....will do in a pinch

The 180/55 was designed for a 5.5" wide rim (you have a 6" rim)
Mounting on a 6" rim will make the profile of the tire different
It will be shorter in overall height, lowering the rear of the bike, transfering weight aft, & increasing the fork rake
In other words it will make the bike handle differently (slower steering)
Just like a 190/55 instead of the stock 190/50 will make the bike turn quicker, a 180/55 will have the reverse affect....will make the bike turn in slower than even the stock 190/50
Hope this helps you
Maybe you can find a correct size used tire on craigslist ???
The difference in a new 180/55 and a 190/55 is only about $20 as I recall
Better to get the 190
Web search tire price example on Michelin Pilot Powers:
$110.99 180/55ZR-17 rear
$129.99 190/50ZR-17 rear
$129.99 190/55ZR-17 rear

Heck....Just call Brad & see what he can get you one for
he may have some other ideas for you too

BTW .....I did a search on "180/55" and did not turn up any threads specifically addressing the topic.
Must be buried in another thread :(

CBRaceRR - got a link for an old man to read?
I'd be interested in seeing what was said

yes it fits, would I run it no i wouldn't. A lot of people use that size on a track but i prefer 190/55. The more rubber to the road is better.
