Fantastic tires. Really good wear and grip, especially on the sidewall. I have been using the Maxxcross SX tires as my last 3 and will buy them again. They work equally as well in the desert as they do on the track. I race occasionally and ride alot, current bike is a YZ450.
My personal take on tires: I would rather have them grip really well and possibly wear out than be so hard they don't grab. If you are looking for the "longest lasting tire" ignore my review and stay away from me on the trail, I don't want to be the one picking you up because you didn't make the corner. The Maxxis tires have shown less wear than other brands (I've run Dunlops, Pirelli, Bridgestone and Michelin). The Michelin StarCross offered a little more grip but they cost more and wear out quick! The Dunlops offered the same grip, wear out a little quicker but cost more. So the Maxxis for me has been a triple threat, inexpensive, grippy and longer wear.
