Are 929's good.......

...track bikes? the reason im asking is cause i might be able to get one at a really great price. Ive been looking to start doing a few track days, but as you know i can not go anywhere near a track on my current bike.

Let me know what your thoughts and comments are on it...

I rode one on the track for 3 years---there are fine but wont be competitive with current liter models. Prolly a very cost effective way to gain track prowess w/o putting your real bike at risk

I always wanted to get the 929 to the track. I can't see why it would not be a good track ride? Very good handling bike and not bad power once you do a few mods

But like trackho said, she won't run with a brand new liter bike unless the rider has no clue what they are doing.

they are very easy to ride,be great to use as a track bike.and will be plenty of parts around.
maybe get a full system, rearsets and maybe a shock(the stock ones not too good, and need to up the rear ride height a little)but even just stock will be great fun!its like a mini bike or something really!!
this is my old 929(miss her alot...)

I loved my 929. The only thing I have heard bad about having those on the track are that the front forks are pretty much useless. Other than that, it was a great bike. I didn't notice much of a problem with my forks because I only ran it on the track twice and I'm no pro at it. Honestly, if you can learn to elevate your skills on the track and you can use 85% of the maximum ability of a 600cc bike, I would venture to say that you have more riding skills than 80% of us on this website...Including me. I'm not fast and I have no problem admitting it. It's a great bike though.
