ya I realize they are still new, but I'm looking for a demo'd bike that is being parted out. I'm willing to use a 2010 if needed, but the 08 and 09 were too many issues.
Not too sure how the engine blew, I always had oil burning on it, but kept the oil checked regularly. I was on a day trip, on a highway doing 130km, and the engine started running rough. Next thing I know, I felt a loss of power on the bike - and wasn't sure if I was imagining it - so gave it a little throttle. A second later the engine started locking up and all of the oil blew out onto my leg and rear tire. Turns out a rod blew out and left a hole in the stator cover.
Ha ha. Didn't read all of your posts. I have not looked into it but you still may be able to rebuild and end up with a better motor than buying a used motor. Maybe not but look into it. Just saying...
KingofBeers, I have the bike at a reputable rebuilder right now, and his opinion is that it will cost twice as much for a rebuild than to buy another motor.
I figured that might be the case. Good luck to you sir.
