broke a fairing tab

Hello friends,

I am curious if other blade owners have broken the small plastic tabs/hooks on their fairings. I have some experience with fairing with previous brands I have owned. It seems like Honda uses a lot more little hooks. I have a 2014 cbr1krr. First Honda I have owned. Previous was a S1krr. Those fairings were much more flexible, thicker and no little hooks at all.

My guess is that the previous owner never removed the mid fairing, because it was perfect before my frame slider install.

They break indeed. Especially the cheapy off brand fairings where they use a brittle type of plastic. There is a right way and wrong way to remove and install the tupperware. I would imagine there is a sticky thread somewhere with a how-to.

I JB welded a tab on my 2014 1000rr. Always baby it when removing but never had a problem with it since.

I fill them in with clear epoxy (and paint since I have it from some other projects). I have a new upper SP fairing that I will fill in and paint before it's installed. I don't think it is possible to mess with the upper without breaking those tabs, really a poor design.

FYI the aftermarket upper I got (made in China) had solid tabs, and no issues with them. I cannot fathom how the 0.001 gram weight savings could be worth that much hassle on the OEM fairings.
