Gear position sensor.
But what are the other symptoms? What mods are done to the bike?

Where are you located?

Hey New Zealand. i bought bike stolen recovered, they had tried joining a bunch of wires to get it started and melted some of the loom (mainly this hiss aerial wires) . i replaced full loom/ecu. engine light is on, not sure if thats from the 41 code. it also sounds a bit funny (only run it briefly due to engine light), not sure if this generation has a different sound to previous one i had (2011)(almost like hole in headers/ airbox not on properly, but both are ok) . its all stock no mods

Recovering an SC77 without the service manual will be very tough, probably impracticable.. A damages wire harness and or damaged sensors will render the SC77 severely hampered. Although the gear shift sensor will just impact the Quick Shifter, Autoblipper and Torque Control - but those are the cool features of the SC77.

The vehicle speed sensor and the gear position sensors are down in the valley near the starter motor so the plugs/leads could easily have been damaged by a botched theft.

What about the PAIR and EVAP systems having hoses disconnected being the source for the odd noise.

It really is a next generation bike.

hey thanks for the reply
i replaced the whole harness so hoping have just missed a couple plugs for the gear sensor, they hadn't removed tank etc only cut the hiss/ignition/rhs switch wires, so i think thats my muck up hopefully!
