blame shifitng to avoid litigation

i think the cop tired to run the bike off the road...he dodged it....and the cop hit a car instead

and its the bikes fault of course....cops can never be wrong they ARE THE LAW
I think you have way too big of a hard on over cops to ever be objective about a single thing they ever do.

I didnt mean to come off that way if thats the way that my posts came off as. I feel that i represented both sides fairly in this thread and in the first one. Im just saying that the cop will be hanged becuz he is a cop. His image his position. It happens to Marines almost on a daily basis. Your supposed to have a better mindset and or better thought process cuz of the position you hold. But people fail to realize that we are all humans and to err is natural.
Yes, I agree that the cop should be held to a somewhat higher standard, however, I also feel that there is not enough data available on this case to even know what standard the cop should be held to, if any.

No where does it say this cop made a bad decision though.
Not yet give it time they did the same thing in DC cops for awhile were killing people left and right because they were going way to fast. Now they are not aloud to.

Also cops are not really all that great at highspeed anyway.

They both should be charged with involuntary manslaughter and let the courts decide.

True, it MAY never happen, but to be quite honest, this is what happens when so many guys with sportbikes ride like complete asshats on public roads.

I'm right on the VA, MD border so I venture up there every so often and it seems that, for some reason, there are a lot of guys in MD that feel the public highways are their personal racetracks.
They should set up some sort of sting operation for these young asshats that do not respect the public roadways.

I gotta agree with Jim here. Not one person on this board TRULY KNOWS what happened and how it happened. All we know is what we see on tv and what the reporters have said and of course a reporter would never ever make rash statments without anything to back it up, of course not.

That is the dumbest statement I've read on this board yet.

You obviously don't have a clue what you're talking about and just don't like cops, but instead of just saying that you try to justify your misguided views buy making generalized statements about things you know nothing about.

Well they have guns, radios, helicopters and camra's all over the beltway and the ability to seal a person in on that road. They have local and state cops from 3 states and fed and capital police all over the place.

Now why should we let them use a 3500 pound sled to kill people?

Yes I know DC is a district and VA is a commonwealth.

Well maybe that is written wrong I guess what I should say is that the vehicle's they are given are not the best for highspeed other then a straight line and the beltway is anything but straight. Plus out of all the cops I have meet in my life I have yet to meet one that can drive other then what they are shown at school.

LOL!!! asshats

So they are suppose to pull all of those resources from all of those jurisdictions of apprehend one motorcyclist who decided that he wanted to get an adrenaline rush by trying to outrun the police?

How is it possible to "seal someone in?" Did they find a way to totally close off all roadways? If they have some new technique they developed I sure haven't heard about it.

You're right.... the police get in there cars every night and think "How many lives can I endanger and how many people can I kill tonight?"

I sure that the poor guy on the motorcycle was running home to turn off his oven or because he had to go to the bathroom really bad.

They did very high speed pursuits in this city for a few years. Way too many innocent people of all ages got killed. It gets bad when enough of it happens I start running into family members with a story. The televisions FOIA'd the tapes and created quite a debate. Ever seen a young girl's eyes an instant before she was hit by a police car running a red light in the city at 80mph? It happens!

"The life you save might be your own."

Erm it's a beltway big arse circle and with thousands and thousands of the police in this area I am going to say it is pretty possible. Second they have a pretty good camera system on the beltway and they could have let him go got his tags and then gone and got him.

Here is the thing I don't think what this motorcyclist did was right in anyway.

But that cop took it personal that he was going to catch this asshole on a bike speeding and he killed people doing so. And the part that pisses me off is I am sure he knew he could not keep up with this bike but his big fucking ego said I can out drive this guy on the bike.

Your blaming them guy on the bike for killing these people and he did not do that the cop killed them.

But that cop took it personal that he was going to catch this asshole...
There you go again on telling us what someone else was doing and feeling when you have never been in the same position nor do you know anyone involved.

...on a bike speeding and he killed people doing so.
So if I force your bike off the road and you run into a pedestrian and kill them it's your fault?

And the part that pisses me off is I am sure he knew he could not keep up with this bike but his big fucking ego said I can out drive this guy on the bike.
The police officer involved was doing his job by attempting to contact the driver of a motorcycle who was breaking the law. The driver of the bike did not stop and from there everything else unfolded.

Your blaming them guy on the bike for killing these people and he did not do that the cop killed them.
Again you talk like this wasn't an accident but a deliberate act of agression by the police and not a deliberate act of evasion by the motorcyclist that resulted in innocent lives being lost.

okay first of all i have to go back a few pages to where i said the at all we know is...

a guy was speeding

a cop hit a car that hit other cars...

everything else is specualtion

but for me I am first and foremost not a postive proponet of how law enforcement is used in america today

but do not think that I HATE ALL COPS...i dont...they have an important job to do

I really hate some of them...I have a multitude of stories but not enough time

but my whole familiy other than 1 cousin are all cops....all of them

most of the people I served in the military with , if not active duty, are most likely cops (local, state, or fed) now

my issue is with the way law enofcement (local mostly) uses it's authority

I dont want to hog this whole thread ..but

I have always said that if i could do to al-q what cops do to americans....bagdad would be the #1 tourist spot in the middle east and Tehran would have pizza hut and starbucks

The worst of it is there are real crimnals and real terrorists right here in america

yet it seems to me the focus is making sure motorists comply with some BS speed limit..

so i am biased....how did i get that way

my friends and familiy are for the most part all cops...yet I seriously dislike how they do things?...how come?

maybe I have seen enough to know the way things are done are fucked up

So simple a caveman could do it.... deduce scenario...

1. Motorcycle ran or sped hastily away (whatever the reason)
2. Police pursued in what seems to be heavily trafficked area
3. Police hit another vehicle, causing chaing reaction accident
4. Motorcycle did not hit anyone, got away

We all read the same thing in the article. Whether it be corrupted by the news media, it still reads the same facts.

I don't doubt that police are put under a great deal of stress given these types of situations. But I would still expect a more when it comes to judgement. I do hope the officer finds his way through this ordeal, must be quite difficult. But he is also one of us, prone to make a mistake that must be paid for. He may be the law, but he's not above it.
