I love the 1000RR... glad to hear you are all enjoying them :x

I was wondering what bike most of you guys are upgrading from to get the 1000RR... I'm sure alot will say 954, or 929 but I'm curious.

I guess I'd like to see some F4i guys making the jump, because although I only have a 2000 F4 right now, I'd like to make the jump to a 2005 CBR1000RR next year (when mine is paid for )

Also, what kind of experiance (years riding) do you have, and what do you suggest before owning a 150rwhp litre bike?

This will be my 2nd season with the F4, and I feel I'll be ready for the 1000 by the end of it. I'm a pretty big guy - 6'4 / 255-275lbs (depends on gym phase), so the extra weight should slow me down

Going fast (straight line) isn't new to me, as I race a [email protected] drag car, but doing it on 2 wheels IS new... it's just those darn corners I need to work on

I'm about 6'1" and down to 230lbs. (from 280lbs 1.5 years ago)--I'd still like to loose at least another 30lbs. I'm still trying to sell my '02 954RR, and before that, I had a 2001 929RR. Before that were cruisers, as well as a dirt bike & ATVs while growing up on a farm. I was 30 when I got the 929RR (wanted a sport bike for as long as I could remember, and finally had the financial ability to do so). Luckily, by then I was old enough to not let my ego get the best of me, and allow me to do something stupid with all that power. I still had some very bad riding habits before I got the 929, but I started riding in some groups of guys that knew what they were doing and have done very well to correct them the last few years.

I'd say the F4 well be a good step to a liter bike. Maybe get some class/track time to really learn how to control & use the abilities of the bike, especially cornering & braking.

Rode an '03 RC51 before the CBR1000RR.

RC had:
Akrapovic Ti Race system, PCIIIr w/ custom map, K&Ns, 520 conversion, undertail, etc.

I put about 5000 miles on the RC - Now it belongs to my roommate (again).

Your first bike was an RC51? :shock: Crazy!... Crazy good though.. sweet bike, It was my 2nd dream bike. My first bike I really wanted was a '01 929RR ... had a chance to buy one in mint shape, but decided to go with the F4 for a first bike... and extra $2500cdn and the 929 woulda been mine :roll: I think I made the right choice though... but I would love to have that 929 right about now :twisted:

Wow... so you're the guys keeping Honda in business

Very cool stuff... hopefully someday I'll be able to make a list like those.
I plan on owning many bike, as $$$ allows of course.

I'd like to try em all If I could, you know V-Twins (RC51, Duc, Aprilla) and other brands of I4's. I'd really love to own an MV Agusta F4... those looks sweet! 750cc, but I believe they make a 1000cc now? (SP1?)

How many of those bike were bought new/used? I imagine most were used... buying a new bike every year has gotta hit the wallet pretty hard, especially after all the mods we love to do

First street bike for me was my '03 600rr and I had absolutely no problems riding and hanging with guys that have ridden for many years. I had minimal experience riding dirt bikes before. Someone joked about riding a triathlon bike but for me that is the case. I dont ride Triathlons but I race Road bicycles. Trust me, it's alot more scare cornering one of those coming down a mountain in a pack of 100+ guys all within inches of each other than it is to lean one of these sport bikes over. The tire on those things is only a half inch wide. This really made the transition for me so easy and I can't wait to get to a track to start dragging the knee. I have said this before and I will say it again, there is no way to tell if someone is ready to ride a bigger bike just by knowing their previous experience. There are many other factors and part of it is just natural ability. I have a friend that has a Gixxer 600 that is horribly slow. I have to pull over to the side of the road every 2 miles and wait for him, and I'm not kidding.

With that said, you will be fine riding the 1000rr. It's as easy as riding a scooter up until 5-6k rpm and as long as you don't push it past that until your ready it is no harder to ride than a 600. On the other extreme, None of us here will ever push that bike to it's limit but it's fun to push it to your limit. Let us know when you pick up the 05, I wonder what the color schemes will be.

yes buyin a new bike (or 2) in a year is very costly, especially after all of the mods/add-ons
