I must be a source of great pride for these Honda guys, having made generation after generation of excellent motorcycles,
Well, except for the folks working on the 2008 - 2009 oil burners ;)

haha, I had a new '08. Was pleased to sell it after a year. That new edition looks amazing.

I hope so ... but didn't Honda slapped the 20th Anniv badge on one of the previous gen CBR's ?
Have to agree the 30th Anniv livery is gorgeous.

I think it is a popular belief that the '08-'09 has a tendency to burn oil.

A few years ago, before the crazy Covid prices, I came across a pretty immaculate 08 for sale with around 7K miles on it.
I did some internet searches to get some background on it before jumping on it.

I came across enough articles about the 08 and some 09s burning oil that I passed.

If I recall correctly, Honda acknowledged the issue for some people and did some repairs under warranty. Honda also said burning 1 quart of oil in 1K miles is "normal".

see some articles here:

However, if yours doesn't burn oil, it probably doesn't have the issue.

On that note , what oil would you guys recommend ?
Any brand in particular ?

^^ Any well-known brand oil that meets the specifications in the bike's manual will be fine. You can also get Honda branded oil and it will be good.
Don't go too cheap.
If you get 'racing' oil, you may want to change it a bit earlier than the manual suggested interval.
If you track your bike, you also may want to change it more often.
If you ride in areas with much dust or any kind of heavy air pollution, change it more often, and also replace the air filter more often.
