Black Front Forks on an 07?

986 Views 14 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Rocky1
So im having my exhaust ceramic coated this week on my 07 and near everything is black or red on my bike except for the front forks. Anyone know if it would be possible to powder coat, anodize, or have anything else down to the outer shell to make them look like the 08-09 forks?

If there isnt a good option as far as that would it be possible to use the 08-09 forks on the 07?

I'd think that it would be easier to change the color of your existing forks then to fabricate your way through mounting the wrong forks to your bike. The easiest way would be to remove the forks, tape everything off and paint them. That way you wouldn't have to worry about any heat generated during powder coating messing with the fork internals. I'm sure you could pull the internals out and just get the tubes powder coated though, it would just take more time and cost more.
08+ forks won't work... toss that idea

you could have the outer tubes anodized and the inner tubes coated (I can't remember what it's called)

IMO that'd look sweet. Do it.

Fair warning: the inners are gonna cost an arm and a leg, making it difficult to ride. BUT it would look sweet
I want to make my forks look like the 03 gsxr 1000...

Black anodized internals and gold anodized tubes

I'm just waiting to sprout another arm and leg to pay for it.

It's called DLC ( diamond-like carbon )

;)
I was actually thinking about you when I made that post, Flixy.

How ya been, bro?
Eh, so so. Had some challenges but all is good :)

Not good to hear, from an optimist like yourself.

PM if ya like to talk.

I've been chillin, man. Keepin things going. 4 TDs in this year, so far... can't be bad :)
I've been out twice, should probably be at the track today but a drank too much last night :)
I heard about the DLC. Although my plan was just to do the outer tube and leave the inner the way it is just so im not messing with the performance of them at all...

I was also planning on trying to have the ohlins intervals done when i do this so i would just take everything out for the process and change out the intervals when the process is done...
"internals" is the word you're lookin for, Rock.

Good idea, btw... I love my Ohlins "intervals" ........lol

Have them anodized then since they will be off the bike anyway for the revalving. Paint would be the lazy and cheap way but it would also look lazy and cheap. If you want it to look real good then go with anodization.
