shit they should have amended that to be able to stop someone for talking on their cell phone!
Been like that here for years. It's another way to generate revenue and possibly have a normal traffic stop turn into a dui stop, or check for warrants, drugs, etc.

It's not because they care about our safety.
We've had that here for years also, not a big deal for me really.
Now if they could pass the Cell Phone ban and jail those asshats who text while driving I'd feel just bit safer.
They did that back in the late 90's here in Maryland. I remember working with a woman who got 2 tickets for it in the same day. The cops were enforcing it at an elementary school and she got a ticket in the morning dropping her kids off and then again in the afternoon when she picked her kids up.

Doesn't bother me since I wear my seatbelt.
I think it is total bullshit. Government should not dictate to you that you have to wear a seatbelt anymore then they should dictate that you have to wear a helmet. It should be personal choice. That is how natural selection works.

Before anyone misinterprets what VanLaren said, it reads.....don't buckle up, suffer the consequences (ie. accidents and insuing injuries and/or death). If you(and should) buckle up, this law won't impact you in the least!
Continue.
No, really, they should let natural selection work. Seriously. Not to be rude, but if her daughter wasn't a risk taker, why would she fall asleep in a car with a teenager driving it? Also, I was in a situation here where there was some soldier driving an MRAP down the road, right in the middle, as fast as he could get it to go, and it was headed right for our truck, and right at that moment I realized I had my seatbelt on and if the dude driving would have been an idiot too, I would be trapped in that vehicle trying to get my seatbelt off while we were being plowed into by a military tactical vehicle. I no longer wear my seatbelt here.
Because I am in Afghanistan, and I have not much else to do at night.
i'm glad he revamped the Texas girls are hot thread... lol

Yep. Exactly. I've been in Maryland and pulled over for "Not wearing my seat belt" I always wear it. The cop comes up to the car after running my plates says He pulled me over for not wearing my seatbelt. Then after seeing my seatbelt on says " I must have made a mistake. Have a nice day!" Still trying to figure out how a cop could ever tell if you're wearing your seatbelt when he's following you down the interstate at 60mph. Just opens the door to pull you over and take a peek in your car.
