I have special forks I only bring out when I'm hosting parties. But most of the time I use a standard salad fork

LMAO!! What does the wifey think about that salad fork obsession???

OP... From what I've read (you could too with a lil searchy), the 08 OE forks are pretty good. Unless you've got some pretty worked forks, you may be better off with the stockers (or O.R.'s salad fork).

That being said, I also understand that a fork swap isn't the simplest of tasks from 07-08. You're better off getting something new and selling off your old.
I bought a wrecked one and there are very few 08-09 forks used, but i do have a set of 06-07 forks with a set of ak20`s installed..I am making it into a dull time race bike anyway. just wanted to know if there was any length changes
i think there is an issue with 08 to prior swaps...something about the inner hub on the 08 wheels are different....(the inner hub is smaller and brings the forks closer together and messes with the rotor / brake relationship ?)

i asked if could just swap my ohlins front end set up to an 08

i was told i'd have to get a new triple tree to make it happen...could be bullshit

but i hope it helps focus you
