Get a lil baby flat head and pry 'em open.

It won't hurt.

If you can get your hand on the inside of the fairing, you can push the middle out as well. Then you should be able to get the little bastards out.

another method that might work is to turn them about a quarter turn counter-clockwise, with as little pressure as possible. that SHOULD make the head pop up and then you can pull it out.

If you are talking about the ones that have a little circle in the center, push the middle circle in and they come right out. To put these back in make sure you push the middle from the bottom through the top and stick out a little. Put the fastner back in the hole and push the center until flush with the head of the fastener.

If they are the ones that screw some but not all the way, screw them out as far as possible with feeling like it jumps threads and pull it out.

If it is the ones that screw all the way down, unscrew as much as possible and keep tension on the fairing close to the screw while unscrewing.

Can you leave the two pieces of the lower together like you can on the '04-05? After messing with those things a couple times, I just take the whole lower off as 1 piece.

Just lightly unscrew them. If you apply pressure while unscrewing them they won't come out.

Pick the bike up and shake it till they fall out.

That sounds like a great idea, I'll definitely try that when I get home today. Those little bastards can be a pita.
