Getting '08 tuned 4-11-09 and have a few questions

1235 Views 10 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Darth H.
Well the bike is hitting the dyno this weekend and I was wondering what I need to be aware of prior to the tune. I'm not new to tuning cars, but bikes are a different story. Here is my mod list:

08 CBR1000RR:

PCIII
z-bomb
Jardine RT-5 carbon slip
BMC filter
Flappers removed
Diverter valve plugged
Chain will be clean, lubed, and set
Oil has been recently changed

What AFRs are our bikes suppose to see at WOT?

What AFRs are our bikes suppose to see at cruise?

I plan on having the bike at full temp prior to tuning.

Anything else I should do or be aware of?

Thanks!

Just double check your oil and coolant levels and also rear tire pressure.
I would make sure you have done the pair mod prior to Dyno tyning.....

Or know how to block it because sometimes the dyno operators don't know all the bikes.
Look as Losper's thread for some more ideas.
Thanx for the heads up. Didn't quite think about tire pressure.

I already blocked the pair valve. I stuck a marble into the intake tube and zip tied around both sides.
Never heard of the marble technique, but whatever works.

Yea, I have a buddy with an 08 GSXR750, and that was a mod on their site to plug the pair valve.
These bikes like to run hot and if the shop does not have very good fans you could be in for a long day. I would recommend removing the fairings to speed things along and make sure they keep the temp under 200f while tuning.
Whats a diverter valve ?
The pair system injects air into the exhaust system for emissions and will give a false reading to your dyno operator if left operational. It has to be plugged or removed so that the tuner can get proper air / fuel ratio readings.
I gotcha. I just never heard it called a diverter valve before. Yeah mine is all removed too.
