Would it be a good idea to remove the heat shield?? It's one long piece from the s-pipe all the way to the tailepipe...actually hangs over the pipe if you remove the gold cover. Has anyone removed it? Or would it pose a problem with maybe melting the plastic??

That would be my thought, it's there for a reason but it's your buns.

I removed mine. But, I also lined the bottom of the undertray with high temprature insulation tape. 400 miles and no warmer than before may be a little cooler this way.
