Held Phantom gloves question

1195 Views 9 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  AQAJR
I bought a pair of Held Phantoms and used the sizing method they recommend and after using them a few times have come to the conclusion that they're too small through the lower palm.

My question to current users is - are these things ever going to stretch enough to be comfortable or do I just need to move on.

I'm past the point of being able to return them and my hands start to cramp after maybe 30 miles from not being able to move my thumb around enough. They felt fine just putting them on but on the bike is a different story.

Any ideas?

they will stretch but if they feel too small after 30 miles they prob. wont stretch enough to make it feel better.

i would recommend selling them and buying a larger size.
Thanks for the super quick reply
That sounds like what I'll have to do.
Ok quick update if anyone cares
Being hard headed and not wanting to drop another big chunk of money on gloves I sucked it up and kept wearing my Phantoms that felt too small. The damn things have actually started to stretch out more, the right felt ok first then the left came around. Still not 100% ideal but close enough that I'm not going to buy anything else. It took 400 more miles but I got back after a 130 yesterday and realized I never noticed the gloves once.
So all is well and I guess their size chart worked even if it took a while. My advice would be measure and go a half size up from there if you want comfort out of the box.
+1 My Phantom's were a little bit tight when I first got them, but after one trackday they felt like that pair of sneakers you'll never throw out because they're so damn comfy!
Did you get them wet? I would get my wife pissed at me all the time when I would put MX boots (when new) on and stand in the tub (with water) to losen them up (leaning back and forth).
Not sure if this would appply or not.

The deal is don't just let them dry without moving / stretching them, otherwise they will shrink for sure.

I did end up getting them damp although i didn't dunk them. They keep getting better the more I wear them so it's all good. Best part is no discomfort after 30 miles
Im on my second pair and they both felt like butter from day one. although the seams in the palm of the first pair used to bug me.
You have to be careful with Held because they make gloves with regular and long finger lengths. You may have gotten a pair that was right for you in the finger dept. but a size too small. Perhaps if you had a larger size but regular finger length, they would be a better fit.
