Hello Guys..Some Questions for You!

Ok i wanna start by saying great site, i have been reading posts here and there and some great information can be found right here on these forums. Secondly comes the most important, I am a current 2008 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R owner.

I have owned an 05 R6, an 07 GSX-R 1000, and now an 08 ZX-10R, but yesterday me and my buddy who has an 06 CBR1000RR Repsol, went through the twisties, and we switched bikes because he wanted to ride the ZX-10R so i let him and i jumped on his and we continued on.

Now the most amazing thing happened, i fell in love with the CBR. Plain and simple. I am seriously thinking about selling or trading my ZX-10 in for an 07 or 08 1000RR, now here comes the question, which one would be the best choice.

I wanted to come straight to the source for the best opinions, as a potential Honda owner. I can wheelie just fine, power and clutch ups, so none of that is an issue. I felt right at home on the 07, but is the 08 much different? Aside from looks?

I love the look of the 07 but the 08 look could grow on me after some well needed modifications. Im not a so called stunter just the occasional wheelie every now and again for fun, im more of a twistie lover, give me some corners and i can get my rocks off all day.

Now i know that i have to sit on both and ride both but sadly we all know most dealers dont let you take test rides especially on brand new bikes. So that option is out for me, i rode the 07 and loved it. There is no one around me that has an 08 CBR.

As a matter of fact i am the only person in my whole town with an 08 Bike period. So if you guys could please give me your best opinions and knowledge it could help in my decision.

Thank You, Vince.

If performance is what you want get the 08. Lighter, stronger, faster.
Thank you for the fast reply. Hmm..so the 08 is in fact a better performer?
Find a new friend with a new blade and make your own assessment.

That's what they say. I've not ridden one yet. They feel nice and small when you sit on them though. Go with what you like and your wallet can swing.

Interesting that you liked the cbr so much better than the Kawi, care to give more deaail on that...was it an 06 or 07 cbr? Didn't have repsol in 06. 07 and 06 are the same bike though. Glad you liked though!!

I can swing both really price not much of an issue. It was an 06 with repsol plastics really. Well here is the thing, the 08 kawi 10 has a tremendous vibration in the throttle at all speeds. Its by far the worst vibration out of all the bikes. Secondly as far as handling goes not much difference in corners they both handle superb. Comfort, the honda has it. Power delivery much smoother in the honda as well, the kawi has to be at about 8k rpm to really see the power push through. But dont get me wrong the kawi is very much a great bike and very powerful, but i maybe should have found a honda to test ride first. I just feel a bit better on the honda really is what it boils down to.
06-07 looks, reliability, price

08-09 performance, weight, oil burner (debatable)
get rid of 08zx10 really! there a animal of a bike, i have an 08 blade which i traded a modded 04 blade in for.the 08 blade cracks i tell you and you could mod up a previous model blade and it still comes up short on the new blade...personally i think getting off your zx10 for anything short of the 08 blade you might start wondering where all that power went! good luck with your choice if you pull the trigger

After seeing a dozen 04-07 1000RRs at a bike nite last night, the 08 has the looks covered as well, IMHO. I think the 07 is definitely more photogenic but 08 is better in person. 08 is sleeker and looks/feels more compact.

The 08+ ZX-10 has nothing on an 08+ Blade.
Thank you guys for the great information. This will help in my decision i found a 08 Blade for $8999 brand new, is that a good deal or what? lol

If it were an OTD price, yes. It depends on what kind of B.S. fees the dealer tries to tack on and what you'll pay for TTL. I definately wouldn't pay over $10k OTD on an '08 ... and would negotiate hard for less.

Thank you, well i got off the phone with the sales man, and it looks like i am gonna get $6500 for my kawi as the trade in and i am gonna have to finance the rest. Hmm idk but i hope it goes well. I am leaning towards the dark candy red and metallic silver color.

Also i have to ask what unit are you with? I was in the ARMY also. I was in 2 ID, 2 BCT, 1/9 INF. RGT. Dog Company out of korea and then after our first deployment we were at fort carson, CO. I got wounded in our second tour in iraq and got discharged but i am thinking of going back in lol.

you might want to take the 08 back for warrenty seems you have a problem, but to answer your question I would go for the 08 cbr different class of bike vs the 04-07 cbr imho.

depends what your looking for:)

That is very true my friend.
Ok well guess what..today i went to the closest honda dealership and they told me on the phone before i went that they would give me $6300 for my kawi and tack the rest i owe on top well i get there which is an hour away, and then they tell me they are gonna only give me $5000, so i would be paying $13000 for an 07 i was like hell no your out your mind.

So i am going next week to try for another one at a different dealership. They only have 08's in stock but i am actually wanting an 07, black is preferred but i would settle for any color really. I just cant get over the look of the 08, the 07 has and will eventually get all the power i need out of her. Plus i really love the 07, what else can i say.

To top it all off, we got pulled over and i got a ticket for doing wheelies when i never did 1 single wheelie today at any point, plus i had my ol lady with me, i wont do a wheelie with her on the bike period.

you wont beleive how good a bike the 08-09 is. i think my honda red 08 looks real nice.
08 1000rr

picked mine up this week, the bike listed at 10,900 but got that down to $9300, they showed a little more for my old bike i traded. walking in with cash though it would have been $9300 otd for a leftover 08 blade
The 07 im looking is brand new with 0 miles on it, and they are wanting $9999 for it. Because they put a full yosh system on it and other extras. is that a good deal?
